Civic Projects
Our garden club is currently involved in caring for the grounds of the Helen Kate Furness Library and the Leiper House, both located in Nether Providence Township. Throughout the year we hold four to six workshops at each facility providing needed clean up, mulching, and plantings. We started our affiliation with Helen Kate Furness Library in 1959 and with Leiper House in 1993.
After Thanksgiving, our members prepare for our annual Holiday Workshop held at the Elwyn School located in Media. Members cut and collect mounds of evergreens to make Christmas swags, wreaths, and arrangements to adorn the school campus. This is a festive day where we make over 130 swags and numerous wreaths and flower arrangements to decorate the offices and the campus. We have been doing this since 1970.
The first weekend in May we hold our annual plant sale which was first held in 1946. All monies raised at the plant sale go to outreach. The following organizations receive financial support from us on an annual basis. In addition to the following organizations, we often give money to local projects that meet our mission statement or to special projects being organized by GCA.

In 2013, Providence Garden Club made a special contribution of over $2,000 to the Save the Redwoods fund. Our contribution will be used to restore access to The Garden Club of America Grove in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California, GCA's first national conservation effort, and also will be credited toward GCA's share of the grove's original acquisition costs.
